Nurse Licensure Compact
An act relating to health care; enacting the nurse licensure compact; making conforming changes to the nursing practice act; repealing sections of the NMSA 1978; declaring an emergency.
Bill Highlights
- Enactment would allow multistate licensure reciprocity for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and vocational nurses.
- Without the compact, nurse licensure would be required separately in each state in which the nurse chooses to practice. (source: NMLegis.gov)
- Viante New Mexico supports this bill because it would increase the labor force participation by eliminating barriers to employment and allowing more people to work as a nurse in New Mexico.
