2020 Crime Bills In New Mexico Legislature

A legislator’s Viante score is based off if they sponsored any of Viante’s 15 Focus Bills and how they voted on those bills. Viante’s nonpartisan board selects it’s Focus Bills AFTER the end of the session in order to avoid confusion with amendments.

During the session, the board actively monitors all bills that may impact our crime metrics as potential focus bills. Viante monitors bills that impact the following metrics:

• Property and Violent Crime Rate
• Substance Abuse
• Recidivism and Parole Completion
• Change in Incarceration Rate

The final 15 Viante Focus Bills selection will be announced with the release of the scorecard mid-2020.
